Why we don't add SLS - SLES or SLSA in our Bath Bombs

SLS/SLES vs SLSA, what is the difference?!
We are proud to be SLS-Free. But what does that really mean to you and what is the difference between SLS and SLSA? Although these two ingredients might look very similar (I mean, it's just an extra A right?), they are actually two very different ingredients, and it is important not to get the two confused.
In soaps, shampoos and bath bombs, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), and Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA) are “surfactants” responsible for making thick bubbles, and removing dirt and grime from the skin.
This is how SLS lathers and thickens.
SLS & SLES have a small molecular structure that allows them to penetrate hair follicles and is known to dry and irritate the skin, eyes, and scalp.
Ever wonder why you might have been extra itchy after a long shower? Check those labels! It might just be that your soap or shampoo include these sneaky and inexpensive ingredients.
Although it’s small molecular structure is great at disrupting surface molecules on your skin and creating foamy lather, it’s also good at being absorbed directly into your skin.
If you’re worried about the cumulative buildup of iffy chemicals in your body, it might be time to toss the SLS/SLES and opt for the healthier alternative, SLSA or remove all of these chemicals full stop.
SLSA is a much milder, skin safe alternative ingredients that gets the job done! It is safe for all skin types including sensitive skin. Because of its large molecular structure, it does not penetrate the skin and cause irritations.
It is also hydrophilic (I know, where do these words even come from!) which means it dissolves more quickly in water and rinses away faster. You will also be pleased to hear that it is a natural ingredient derived from coconut and palm oil.
So just remember -
SLS & SLES dries, irritates, and absorbs into your skin and scalp, accumulating over the years.

SLSA is a natural, skin-safe ingredient that does not. And because we care about the quality of our products and the happiness of our Fun Bombz Family (yes, that’s you), we are proudly SLS (& SLSA)-Free.
So enjoy our Wonka Bars, Geek Bombs, and all other bath bombs knowing that they not only look good - smell good and moisturise, but are also safe for your skin and children! 😊👧👦
